[...] Networking – If you want to catch “fish” you’ve got to fish where the fish are. In this case your ideal catch is your ideal client. Targeted, focused networking is an excellent way to connect with ideal prospects en-masse. That doesn’t mean randomly attending networking events just because they’re available or you’re invited. It means researching where your ideal clients are congregating and meeting them where they are. It also mean showing up as a friendly, helpful, engaging resource, listening more than you talk and focusing your comments on how you solve your clients problems. Most of all effective networking is all about PROMPT follow-up.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the post Gayle! And I absolutely agree that you make a much deeper impression with handwritten note.

I imagine that the system you're referring to is Send Out Cards. Is that right? :)

I used them for sometime, but honestly, I missed actually writing the card myself, on my own beautiful stationary and ending with my real signature. In my opinion Send Out Cards is great for a number of different uses, but based on my own preferences and feedback I've gotten from several clients and colleagues, an automated card doesn't leave the same impression as a handwritten card. That said, send a note through s system like Send Out Cards is far better than sending nothing at all!

This is such a great article! So much business is left on the table because people do not follow-up. The handwritten note will definitely stand out today, since most of the communication is thru email. Since something like 67% of all email is not opened, you will really make an impression by using that personal touch. I use an incredible system that is automated, easy and cost effective while keeping that personal touch by sending real greeting cards in the mail. Since the company does all the work for you, this incredible follow-up system has really saved us time and has increased our referral business. Please let me know if you would like more information on this awesome system. You can even send a free card on me!

Good for you Margaret! That's excellent! Your strategy is a great way to stay top of mind and to show your diligence, which is particularly important in your field. And doesn't it feel wonderful just to reach out and "touch" someone...just because...with no expectations? I just love that. :)

Thanks for this Sydni. This is something that I have started doing by sending out a card right after the meeting and then sending a postcard each month thereafter.

Even if they dont become a client, they just might refer me to someone else.
