As a small business, your passion for what you do and the quality of your solutions are what separate you from your competitors. When you use email marketing to stay in touch with your audience, you’ll be able to reinforce those relationships and connect with your customers in a way no one else can—every single time you hit the ‘Send’ button.
Here are 5 simple reasons why you need to implement email marketing into your profit strategy TODAY:
1. It’s affordable.
Email marketing is an inexpensive way to stretch a tight marketing budget – which is great for you because you don’t have a limitless budget! It’s also a lot less work.
Unlike direct mail, there is virtually no material or postage expense and getting a campaign out the door requires very little production on your part. Email marketing is 20 times more cost effective than direct mail, and can cost as little as fractions of a penny per message.
2. It works.
Email marketing enables you to proactively communicate with your existing customers and prospects instead of passively waiting for them to return to your website.
It’s a great way for you develop position your company as a thought leader, engage your target market and develop a strong relationship with each person you come in contact with.
When done consistently, email marketing is guaranteed to generate leads and sales for your small business.
3. It’s immediate.
Email marketing generates an immediate response. The call to action is clear: “Click here to take advantage of this offer”, or “to learn more about this service”.
You can instantly see who is interested in your content or offers and follow up to close the sale. Initial campaign response generally occurs within 48 hours of the time the email campaign is sent.
4. It’s targeted.
You can easily segment your lists using a variety of criteria so that your promotions go to the individuals most likely to respond to your offer.
Instead of ‘spraying your message and hoping for a response’, you can send content relevant content to address your contact’s specific needs and interest. The reader feels understood and you have a higher quality lead to interact with.
5. It’s easy.
You don’t need to be a technology guru to create polished, professional email marketing campaigns.
Using a tool designed specifically for the busy entrepreneur you can quickly customize a template to match your brand, segment your list and automate your tracking and reporting.
This leaves you free to concentrate on your unique message and do the work you do best.
Email marketing is one of the most powerful marketing tools available to you as a busy entrepreneur. No matter how you define success, you can achieve outstanding results with email marketing while investing only a small amount of time and an even smaller amount of money.

I don’t think the problem is not wanting to set up an email marketing campaign, but how to go about doing it. What I mean, is how to go about knowing who to send your emails to. Actually growing your list is the hard part–from what I have learned so far, anyway.
Thanks for the motivating post,

Hi Josh,
Yes growing your list can be the difficult thing at the start but the key thing is to focus on producing quality content and then making sure your sign up form is clear and the call to action is strong. Focus on getting that first subscriber, then aim for 10 and as you hit that goal look towards the next one.
You won’t make any/much money from it to start with but that isn’t the initial goal of building an Email list. The first goal is building a relationship with an audience. So focus on that first email subscriber and once you get them do everything you can to over deliver a great experience to their inbox.
All the best,
Nate

Nate is spot on! The goal with email marketing is to build a trusted relationship with your audience. The more they trust you, the more willing they are to share with you details of their life and the challenges they’re are facing. This puts you in a position to be able to create solutions to those problems and support them in creating the transformations in their life they are looking for, which of course creates a win-win situation – a profitable business for you, and a happy satisfied customer.
