Will we see you in Detroit next week?
We’ve found after attending the conference for many years (and winning business as a result) that a little preparation goes a long way in helping you to feel confident and convey the value of what your company offers in a compelling way.
Here are our top three tips for how to best leverage this powerful networking opportunity:
- Decide what you want to get out of the event.
Are you looking to re-connect with past clients? Develop new leads? Connect with prospective partners? Setting a clear intention for what you want to get out of the event will help you take the right action to make it happen. - Review the Exhibitor List and decide which booths you want to visit.
Hundreds of organizations and corporations will be on display at the opportunity fair. You’ll find yourself exhausted and overwhelmed if you try to visit them all, or worse yet, wander around aimlessly during the fair.Instead, take a moment to review the Exhibitor List and decide which companies you want to engage with. Then review the Exhibitor Map and plot out how you’ll “work the room”.
- Prepare visual samples of your work.
You’ll inevitably be asked “what do you do?” Instead of trying to explain the value of the products or services your company sells, show the person you’re talking to what your capable of. Using your tablet, open links in your web-browser to projects you’ve completed.Have a few images or a SHORT (less than 60 second) video showcasing what you’ve done. A visual display of your capabilities is much more powerful than anything you can say and you’ll stand out from the hundreds of suppliers who attend the event.
Don’t forget… you’ll want to stop the TIG Tech Hub (Booth #275) to be inspired by MBEs creating and using technology through programming throughout the day. While there, you’ll have a chance to visit with some of the most innovative tech companies in the world.
Safe travels! We look forward to seeing you in Detroit.
