I just got off the phone with one of my colleagues (who also happens to be one of my favorite people!) who hired me on the spot to assist her in marketing a new program she’s offering. That was an instant $500 in new revenue that I wasn’t expecting today!
How did this happen?
We’ve exchanged emails over the past few weeks about a project she was working on and how we could work together to get the results she was looking for. Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, the last two messages she sent me ended up in my spam filter. I just discovered the messages this morning and felt terrible that she had reached out to me and I hadn’t replied. (Can you relate? Uggh!)
Now, I could have handled this two ways:
1) I could have said to myself “Oh well, Sydni! You missed that boat! That prospect reached out to you two weeks ago and you didn’t reply. She probably doesn’t even need your help anymore. You should just reach out to apologize to her and let it go.”
2) Or I could have said “You know what? Technology “BITES” sometimes and everyone understands this. Pick up the phone, apologize and ask how you can help! The worst that can happen is that she says she doesn’t need your help anymore. And she’ll likely appreciate the fact that you reached out and tried to connect with her.”
I chose option #2.
What was the result?
During a 5 minute conversation, I realized she still needed my help, so I offered my support and she promptly hired me for a one-hour consultation…TOMORROW! More importantly, we’re going to work together to create a simple, high-converting marketing plan that will allow her to share her brilliance with those who are looking for her solutions!
The moral of the story?
Always follow-up! I can’t stress this enough. Of course, you get the best results by following up promptly. But if some reason you don’t or can’t, follow-up as soon as possible. Don’t leave the opportunity just hanging there and don’t assume you know what the other person is thinking or how they feel. Reach out, offer to be of service and move forward from there!
I guarantee there are opportunities for you to increase your income opportunities RIGHT now, you just have to reach out and grab them.
Have you left “money on the table”? Take a moment to make a list of the opportunities you have yet to take advantage of. Then schedule 30 minutes on your calendar within the next 48 hours to call the individual and/or send them an email. You could very well close out THIS week with a brand new client or project. Wouldn’t that be sweet?!
Give it a try and then come back here to post your story below. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Sydni,
How true this is! This happened to me just this week and I am going to give them a call right now.
Thanks for the motivation :^)
